For the purposes of this document “Rigby Group” refers to Rigby Building Contractors Ltd and
Rigby Electrical Ltd.
Introduction
Rigby Group recognises the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and the legal requirement for some businesses to publish a Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement to demonstrate compliance under section 54(1) of the Act.
This statement sets out the steps that Rigby Group has taken to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking place within its business or supply chain.
Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, modern slavery or human trafficking. Rigby Group has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery. It is committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency in all its business dealings and to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery taking place within its business or supply chain.
Our Business
Rigby Group’s annual turnover is currently significantly below the reporting threshold of £36M as set by the Government, therefore Rigby Group has no legal requirement to publish a Statement. However, Rigby Group wishes to communicate a Statement under the Act, in order to support clients and suppliers in its supply chain that do have an obligation to publish a Statement.
Organisational Structure
Rigby Group are privately owned Limited Companies providing electrical, construction, refurbishment and maintenance services. It is a small business with one office based in Southport, in the UK. It provides its services to public sector organisations throughout the country.
All of Rigby Group’s employees are employed locally.
The Supply Chain
Rigby Group is a supplier of construction and maintenance services. It supplies its services to public sector organisations on project specific contracts and is required to procure materials from various suppliers.
As a small business, it ensures that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in any part of its business and conducts due diligence on all companies in its supply chain as far as is practical (one level up, and one level down).
Rigby Group’s anti-slavery policy now forms part of its contract with all suppliers and they are required to confirm that no part of their business operations contradict this policy.
Our Policy
Rigby Group has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery. It is committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency in all its business dealings.
Due Diligence
In order to exercise due diligence, Rigby Group implements the following practices: –
· Rigby Group employees are based locally and the management team has direct control and supervision of all workers and working practices.
· Rigby Group ensures all staff are paid not less than the national minimum wage or national living wage as appropriate.
· Rigby Group evaluates its suppliers prior to commencing any business relationship and only does business with organisations that can demonstrate their integrity.
· Rigby Group shall only procure equipment, plant and machinery that is manufactured and distributed by reputable and industry recognised Companies. It shall examine its policies prior to specification where appropriate.
· Rigby Group employees are expected to report any malpractices or improper working activities that may be discovered during their work, whilst at a project site, or at another workplace.
· Where possible, Rigby Group builds long standing relationships with its Clients, Colleagues and Suppliers and makes clear its expectations of business behaviour.
Responding to an incident
Rigby Group has a zero-tolerance policy on any employment acts or omissions that are unethical, immoral or illegal. It reserves the right to terminate a business relationship or contract with any person or organisation if deemed necessary to do so. It shall also exercise its right and its duty to report any wrongdoing to the police or any other official reporting organisations.
